FIDS (Flight Information Displays)
Managed by a FIDS Controller position, the Aviation Data Server (ADS) makes information on planned and actual aircraft movements available to the ARMS FIDS application. The airport-based displays are therefore synchronised with the ATC System at all times. The application also provides for public and staff display pages throughout any airport or remote locations such as hotels, taxi, coach, travel and holiday companies. The application may be upgraded to provide appropriate telephonic voiced flight information.
Displays may be configured to provide:
- Flight number
- Flight origin or destination
- Latest known time of arrival/departure
- Current status of flight. e.g. ‘delayed’, ‘on approach’, ‘landed’, ‘taxiing’, ‘departed’
- Resources allocated to a flight, e.g. Check-in desk, gate, baggage belt
- The full colour logos of aircraft operators and airlines
- Full colour advertisements
- Airport messages
Staff display pages are located at important locations within the operational environment, for example over airside baggage belts; and also to interactive workstations (Executive workstations) running other applications, such as those used by management and administrative staff.
