Walking from RAF Brize Norton to RAF Akrotiri

We are proud to announce that towards the end of last year we, as a company, made a pledge to the Armed Forces Covenant, committing to honour and support the Armed Forces Community. We achieved recognition for our pledge to the covenant, as being an Armed Forces Employer and have also now achieved our bronze award.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a ‘pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.’

Due to the company’s recent and rapid expansion, we have some outstanding ex-service personnel in all areas of the business; Tim Skinner (Production), Sean McLean (Commercial), Cae Roberts (Production), Vicky Lockyer (Corporate Services), Ali Issaee (Production).

We recognise the value Serving Personnel, Veterans and military families contribute to our company and our country and welcome the skills they not only bring to the business but the positive contributions each of them has and continue to bring to the teams.

To better support the Armed Forces Covenant and service people, we will be taking part in various activities and challenges throughout the coming year to raise money for charities which aid this cause.

Our first fundraising challenge to kick the year off has been organised by Tim Skinner (Product Owner) who, last year, moved to Cyprus with his wife and children due to his wife being offered an opportunity with the RAF for an overseas posting. The challenge will be to walk the distance from RAF Brize Norton to RAF Akrotiri.

As Tim explains; “We are aiming to complete a distance of 2020 miles in the quickest time possible. Our team consists of 18 members each with a target of 4 miles a day minimum and these can be completed by running or walking, the more miles completed a day the quicker we shall complete the challenge. We have chosen this challenge as it is the journey I took in August when I moved to RAF Akrotiri due to my wife who is a full-time serving member of the RAF being posted to RAF Akrotiri. 2020 miles is the average flight planned distance between RAF Brize Norton in the UK and RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.

All the funds raised from this challenge will be going to the SSAFA who provide lifelong support to our Armed Forces and their families. To donate to our fantastic team of walkers, joggers and runners simply click here.

As a company we want to say huge well done to all those taking part in the walk and are excited to keep you updated with the progress of the challenge throughout the month. Be sure to keep an eye on our social media pages to track how the team are doing!
