In this team spotlight, we meet Kyra, one of our talented Product Owners, whose role is all about bridging the gap between business goals and technical delivery.
From shaping new features to championing agile practices, Kyra plays a key part in ensuring skybook delivers maximum value to operators.
As a Product Owner, my responsibilities centre on bridging business goals with technical execution. I work closely with the Senior Product Owner to translate both commercial and product needs into clear, actionable functional and technical requirements. A key part of my role involves writing user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, prioritizing and grooming the product backlog, creating release plans, and ensuring transparent communication through artifacts like release notes and show-and-tells.
I also play an active role in promoting agile methodologies within the team, often leading key ceremonies such as sprint planning to ensure we’re aligned and continuously improving.
One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on is the implementation of a weight and balance module into our Electronic Flight Bag (EFB). This project stands out because of its direct impact on flight safety and operational efficiency.
It required close collaboration with cross functional teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders to ensure the module was both user-friendly and compliant with aviation standards. The technical challenges were also significant, we had to build a dynamic, aircraft-specific system that could process real-time data inputs while remaining intuitive to use during preflight operations.
Seeing the module go from a concept to a functional feature was incredibly rewarding. Pilots now have a streamlined, reliable way to calculate and verify load distribution and aircraft balance, right within the tools they already use.
As a Product Owner, Jira is an essential tool I use daily to manage the product backlog, plan sprints, and maintain visibility and alignment across the development team and stakeholders. It helps me ensure that we’re building the right things in the right order, based on business value and user needs.

I transitioned into my Product Owner career organically through a background in digital business analysis and consultancy. Early on, I worked across a range of digital transformation projects, where I developed a deep understanding of stakeholder needs, technical implementation, and user experience.
That foundation led me into more strategic roles, such as Technical Product Manager at PizzaExpress, where I owned full digital platform deliveries. From there, moving into dedicated Product Owner roles felt like a natural progression, combining my passion for user-focused solutions with the ability to shape and deliver impactful digital products in agile environments.
My advice would be to stay relentlessly curious about the product, the users, and the problems you're solving. Take time to truly understand how your product adds value and how it fits into the broader business goals.
Also, build strong relationships with your team. Listen to your developers, respect their technical input, and create a shared sense of ownership. Communication is everything, your ability to articulate priorities and explain the “why” behind decisions will directly impact delivery.
One achievement I’m particularly proud of since being at Bytron is earning my PSPO I (Professional Scrum Product Owner) certification. It was important for me to not only gain hands-on experience in the role but also to formally validate my understanding of Scrum principles and product ownership.
Preparing for the certification pushed me to deepen my knowledge of agile frameworks and refine how I approach backlog management, stakeholder collaboration, and delivering value. It’s been a solid foundation that’s enhanced both my confidence and effectiveness as a Product Owner.
